New Year resolutions can be like as Mary Poppins suggested , “piecrust promises. Easily made, easily broken.”
However if you are sticking to them then well done.
If you are beginning to falter then stick to it. It’s only normal to have doubts.
If you have given up then maybe you were too ambitious but no harm in trying again.
My number one tip when it comes to resolutions is this-
Don’t try to do it all by yourself. Get support it will make it a lot easier and when you can achieve one goal who is to say you can’t achieve another and another and another…
Guess what it’s ok not to feel ok all the time.Keep the frown upside down if you want but remember nothing is forever so turn it back up when you are ready.
A friend of mine told me something that made me think-
“What is a present ?” he asked , well given that Christmas has just gone then I guess it is a gift.
“What is another word for living in the here and now?” , a present?
“Yes” he said
So if you can see that the present moment, right here right now, is actually a gift ( a present) then why would you not appreciate it?
Sure it cost you nothing so go on absorb yourself in the present.
Just listening to Bill Nelson’s “Do you Dream in colour” and it got me thinking , well do you?
Personally I do but I cannot say it has always been the case. Perhaps because I keep a dream diary and I have an interest in the content that I can remember the details (action,sound and vision so to speak).
However I read somewhere that about 95% of our dreams are forgotten and 80% of these are in colour. The thing is it is not something I have ever asked a client, dream recollection can be hard enough if your are not used to it let alone remembering if it was in Technicolor, monochrome or indeed sepia toned.
Furthermore would colour dreams make a difference to the therapy resolution?
Might need to experiment a bit – blue cheese before bedtime anyone?

Further to an earlier post about e- cigarettes and how they are being touted as the safer , healthier alternative to smoking conventional cigarettes I recently came across a shop with the title – Healthier Smoker.
Its a real shop , a proper building, windows and doors with the oxymoronic title above the shop front.
Close by is a traditional newsagent who can stock but not display conventional cigarettes nor advertise that they sell them. Across the road there is a chemist selling nicotine patches and gums.
Now I don’t personally smoke but I know a few smokers and have certainly helped many give them up.
Is it just me or does it seem that there dark forces at work here? I mean here are three different shops all selling products that contain nicotine yet one is virtually selling them under the counter, whereas the other two are promoting them as either pseudo- medicines or indeed “Healthy”.
I’m not for promoting smoking however I am for a fair and just society where people are free to make their own choices which means if your selling nicotine products then they should be promoted on a level playing field.
If you want to smoke then you should be free to do so. If you want to stop smoking then don’t be fooled by the marketing which suggests there is a healthier option by swapping one addiction for another (e-cigs, gums, patches, sprays even nicotine mints!)
If you want to stop smoking then see a hypnotherapist ; you’ll quit for good , have more money in your pocket and definitely be healthier.
